History Hounds | Steam & Steel: The Story of Ephraim Shay

[History Hounds] Steam & Steel: The Story of Ephraim Shay with Beth Wemigwasi, Harbor Springs Area Historical society

Inventor and lumber pioneer Ephraim Shay of Harbor Springs gained fame for his amazing creations, especially one that transformed Michigan’s logging railroads. Join us to discover the stories behind Shay’s 50-foot steel yacht, the Aha; his hexagonal, stamped-steel home; and the invention that made his fortune, the Shay geared locomotive.

We'd like to thank the Historical Society of Michigan (HSM), which supports local history organizations, like us! They are continuing to make their History Hounds Lecture Series available online for free to members of HSM’s member organizations. Register for this remote presentation by 3:00pm the previous day.
