Native American Beadwork

  • St. Ignace Public Library 110 West Spruce Street St. Ignace, MI, 49781 United States (map)

In cooperation with the St. Ignace Public Library, MHS presents Native American Beadwork with Tricia Boucha

Tricia Boucha will talk about her summers spent with her grandparents in Naubinway, MI, learning the art of traditional Ojibwa beadwork. She will discuss how beadwork has changed over the years and share examples of her own beadwork.

Tricia is the owner/artist of Mended Pieces Mosaics. She has taught and created fine-art mosaics for over 40 years. Her works are in public spaces, government buildings, hospitals, retail stores and private collections. She studied architecture, restoration, and design at Oakland University and Henry Ford Community College.

Tricia spent many summers in the Eastern Upper Peninsula learning about her Native American heritage from her grandmother.  She uses her artistic talents and beading skill to create intricate beadwork jewelry with native design.  She has sold and exhibited her works across the United States and Europe.

This is a free in-person presentation. Click here to register.

Native American Beadwork is sponsored by the Michigan Arts & Culture Council.
