Chief Santigo was one of the last Chippewa chiefs in the Straits area. At some point, he converted to Christianity, and had a chapel built on his homestead. Traveling priests would stop by to seek shelter. In return, they would hear confessions and serve the sacrament. This confessional wall was part of Santigo's chapel. What's fascinating is that Santigo's descendants have visited the Museum to see this artifact!
