Powder Horn

Powder Horn

$100.00

Keeping gunpowder dry was a top priority for people who depended on a gun for safety or to hunt. A powder horn was originally made of literal horn, either from a cow, ox or bison. Later, the term was used to identify any personal container for gunpowder. As with any frequently-used accessory, people liked to personalize. This sample features a hand-etched pictured titled "With Gen. Wayne at the Maumee, 1794." Makes you wonder what happened, doesn’t it?
