Chief Santigo was one of the last Chippewa chiefs in the Straits area. This wooden chair is another artifact that Santigo's family still comes to see. It's obviously child-sized, at only 30 1/2" high and 14" wide. It isn't necessarily tall enough to slide under the table like a high chair as we know them today. Maybe the parents just needed a place to have their kids go when they said, "Sit down and be quiet!"
