Late 19th-century Americans had a fascination with the Far East. That fascination extended to St. Ignace residents. We know this because our own Mulcrone family was known to host an Oriental-themed tea party. This lovely blue and white vessel on a pedestal stand was most likely a shallow serving implement, such as a fruit bowl. It features Asian designs and scenes. Who says that fashion trends are a recent development! "Keeping up with the Joneses" is not a 21st-century habit!
