Tobacco is a sacred medicine for Native Americans. Europeans co-opted that fact and created giant wooden carvings of Native Chiefs to advertise stores where pipes and other smoking materials were sold. This particular carving is six feet tall. It would have stood outside of a tobacco store as advertising. This particular model was made in Canada.
