There are some things we know about this little coffee pot, and other things we can surmise based on its condition and markings. We know it is made of copper. We know it was manufactured by someone named F. K. Swain in Detroit. (This name, plus the street address, is stamped on the bottom.) Who owned it and why the spout was removed, however, is anyone's guess! Maybe it broke, and the thrifty owner decided to fill the hole and then use it as a scoop? Back in that day, you certainly wouldn't throw it away!
